History of P&H Cranes

There’re some Pawling & Harnischfeger (P&H) Crane Manuals PDF above the page.

In 1887, after one fatal accident with an industrial gantry crane, American H. A. Shaw decided to build a safe gantry crane powered by electric motors.

Shaw turned to the young firm of Pawling & Harnischfeger located nearby, and in 1888 the first gantry crane of the new type was ready.

The machine became the predecessor of all subsequent P&H cranes, which were to become widely known in the 20th century.

Crawler cranes began to be used during the First World War.

The first machine was produced by the American company P&H Mining Equipment, which in 1995 became part of the Terex Cranes concern.

Today, the American manufacturer mass-produces 5 models of lattice mast cranes with a nominal lifting capacity of 80 to 285 tons.
