History of Terx Cranes

The TEREX Corporation was founded back in 1933 by the Armington brothers. It was called the Euclid Company and specialized in the production of trucks.

Already in 1953, the company bought by the General Motors concern, after which the Euclid GM department formed.

General Motors, being under government sanctions, decided to rebrand and organize a new company for the production of construction equipment, machinery and forklifts.

So, in 1970, the “King of the Earth” brand appeared – “Terex” from the Latin words of the same name “REX – King” and “TERRA – Earth”. At first, the company produced heavy trucks and mining dump trucks.

In 1980, during the American recessions, TEREX IBH Holding repeatedly affected by changes; in 1981, the company bought out by the German tycoon Dieter Esch.

In 1986, Lenz completely bought out the bankrupt Terex USA and organized the TEREX Corporation, which is still in operation today. The company actively purchased small and large enterprises in various areas of activity.

Well-known brands include: TATRA trucks, lifting equipment and Demag telescopic cranes.

Production is located in southern New Hampshire (UK).

In 2000, Terex Corporation owned a controlling stake in Atlas.

During the financial crisis in 2008, the manufacturer of road construction equipment brand TEREX ATLAS sold and transferred to Atlas Maschinen GmbH.

2005 – Terex Corporation buys the O&K Mining division from Fiat.

In 2010, Terex sold a line of mining equipment, including Terex O&K mining shovels, to Bucyrus.
